Subject: Front Range Robotics Club and the KHR-1
Date: September 7, 2005

Kim Wheeler of RoadNarrows demonstrated the Kondo KHR-1 Humanoid robot at the Front Range Robotics Club Wednesday's Hack Session on September 7th in Fort Collins, Colorado. The 37 cm high robot is constructed of 17 digital servos which enable it to perform human-like movements once programmed. Kim's KHR-1 needed only minor supervision during its pre-programmed forward, backwards, and sideways movements. It also successfully completed a backwards lay-down/stand-up, and a forwards lay-down/standup movements. The group showed a lot of interested in the construction and dynamics of the KHR-1. Kim also demonstrated the small Khepera robot made by K-Team, and showed the robot performing a simple Braitenburg object-avoidance algorithm.
